We all have fears, fears can be a powerful motivator or a powerful paralyzer. Fear can motivate us to change or remain the same!
Like others, people with diabetes have some of the same fears as everyone else, but they also have their own set of fears they are dealing with! Some are afraid they will have to have toes or feet amputated like their aunt with diabetes. Some are afraid they will feel “bad” all the time or be sick often.
Fears can be difficult to deal with, even dealing with fear can be a fearful or anxiety provoking experience, but it does not have to be! Though diabetes is a complex condition, it can be managed!
There are many people with diabetes who live full and healthy lives, they are going on vacation, they are enjoying cooking and preparing meals, they are living life at its best! So can you! All you have to do is to take one step at a time.
Don’t try to overhaul your life at one time, pick one or two things you can do to improve your diabetes and succeed at those things before choosing more! Don’t just set goals, take actions steps to achieve those goals! You can manage your diabetes and prevent many of the complications of diabetes!
So, pick one or two goals for your diabetes and set some action steps to help you achieve those goals.
